Top Windows Phone 7 apps to watch out for
In the run up to the release of a massive new phone like Windows Phone 7 we eagerly anticipate what we might be letting ourselves in for. With the iPhone and Blackberry phones having a ridiculous number of apps available to use, we’ve been investigating what the Windows Phone 7 has to offer on the app front. Here are some that we can’t wait to use…
Tumblr for Blackberry Bloggers
Blackberry bloggers have been pretty limited until recently; last month saw Word Press for Blackberry launch and now Tumblr have released its official Blackberry app which is great news for all you bloggers out there.
The Tumblr app will allow you to post photos, videos, audio clips, links as well as text and upload them directly from your Blackberry to your blogs.
Mobelux are the brains behind the Tumblr app, as indeed they were for the fantastic Tumblr iPhone app, so for all of you with iPhone blog envy, you can now enjoy the same attractive and easy to navigate user interface and supporting features as the iPhone users.
The new app provides you with a variety of options which support different post types, will allow you to save drafts as well as different publishing options. You can also choose to send the post out to your Twitter account if you want to update that at the same time.
You will be able to send images from your media library straight to Tumblr and select pre-recorded videos or record new videos directly from the app itself. Pretty impressive right?
Tumblr revealed that in the first hour alone the app was downloaded a whopping 25,000 times, so we know that this is one app that’s going to be popular amongst you would-be bloggers out there!
Top new iPhone Apps for March
There’s an ever growing number of iPhone Apps for your rather shiny mobile phone, which can now do a lot more than just call and text people. With so many to choose from its often hard to know what to download so here are just a few of the best new Apps for March.
Logitech Touch Mouse
Check out the Air Mouse Pro, which is easily one of the best apps in the App Store. It basically works like a wireless control centre for your PC or laptop and you can use it to write things, run apps and control media on your desktop, and the icing on the cake is that it’s free too.
Camera Pro Plus
Camera Pro Plus is a nifty alternative camera app that rivals all the others out there because it allows you to record videos as well, which its competitors generally don’t. So don’t wait until everyone else jumps on the bandwagon and get this while it’s still cheap.
Meebo
A free messaging app which is a nice alternative to all those other apps like Beejives and Trillians, which are aimed at you so-called power messagers out there. But for those of you who just want a simple messaging interface, take the free option and message away happily.
Plants Vs. Zombies
A nifty little game that stands out amongst all the other ‘defend your home’ type games out there. Fight off a mob of ever changing zombies using peashooters, wall-nuts and cherry bombs to your advantage. Every wave of zombies is different and there are 50 adventure levels so this is a pretty substantial game as well. Don’t be put off by the cartoon style graphics as this is really a standout game that is nothing short of addictive.
Final Fantasy I and II
Square Enix have touched up the graphics for the iPhone release so the games are nice and pretty, although the gameplay is a little slow (although this will be forgiven by hardcore FF fans and seeing as the games are a fair few years old now it’s not too surprising). Gameplay is engaging and will keep you going for hours, although the price tag leaves a little to be desired.
Apple iPhone Apps Reach Milestone
We all know how excited the world of gadgets was when Apple announced their new iPad. The all singing all dancing machine really brought Apple and the technology that they offer back into the spot light, with a big high light on the iPhone.
The Apple App store allows you to download any number of applications for any of your Apple gadgets – iPhone, iPod etc.
Now it seems that that since the iPad was formally announced there have been an additional 10,000 applications approved. The iPad is not due for release until spring 2010 but it is already causing a stir, which this massive increase in application shows.
It means that if you have an Apple iPhone you have around 150,000 different applications to choose from to download to your phone. This includes 28,000 different games and 27,000 books. In the just under 2 years since the App store was opened there have been well over 3 billion downloads.
However it seems that the types of App’s we are changing. Back in December 2008 if you wanted an application for your iPhone you were given around 22% of the app’s for free and had to pay for the rest and you had a choice of around 10,000 app’s. Now it is estimated that around 25% of the 100,000 applications that you have to choose from you can get for your iPhone for free. This can only be great news for consumers because it means we get more choice and even more for free. Lets hope that once the iPad is released even more applications are developed.
