Samsung have announced that they will be running a competition called ‘Planet App’ which aims to find the best application idea for its Galaxy Portal phone. The winning app idea will then be developed by Samsung and released as a free download on the Android Market app store.
As well as being made into an actual downloadable application the winner of the design challenge will also receive £2,000 as a prize, so if you have some brilliant ideas for a new app then you’ve got nothing to lose by entering.
Ideas for the competition can be submitted on the website www.galaxyportal.co.uk and ideas will be judged by a panel including The Gadget Show TV present Suzi Perry and the CEO of digital agency Marvellous, Jon Carney.
The five shortlisted ideas will then be put to the public vote who will pick the winner of the competition who will then have their app made a reality and also receive the cash prize of £2,000.
Mark Mitchinson, the vice president of Samsung Mobile UK and Ireland, said: “Our portfolio of Android handsets is set to increase over the course of the year and we are fully committed and extremely confident in providing the best user experience in the marketplace.
“Our customers have a great opportunity to become engaged in the development process and we wanted to give them the opportunity to send in their creative ideas and shape the future.”
